About Detroit, Reformed.

I’m really excited to be living my current life chapter in downtown Detroit. I spent formative years in Michigan but spent most of my life in other states and other countries. It feels really good to be back, and I’m feeling ready to pour into the communities here.

“Detroit, Reformed” refers to a couple of things:

1. Detroit itself is a city being reformed. A lot of people are passionate about this revitalization mission, myself included. I want to trumpet the voices of Detroit with whatever platform I have.

2. I am being reformed by Detroit and in Detroit. I’ve spent so much of my life dreading the question, “Where are you from?” Even across the globe, I’ve told people, “I mean, I spent the first chunk of my life in southeast Michigan. Like, do you know where Detroit is?” Something just feels natural and right about finally being in Detroit, and I’m excited to share my experiences and self here.

3. I am a Christian who considers herself part of the Reformed tradition. My entire worldview is Reformed (and always reforming). Because it’s a fundamental part of who I am, this space will often self-consciously articulate and unpack this particular view of the world.
